Mission and Strategies
Mercy Care for the Adirondacks, sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, was established in 2007 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Its mission is to enhance the fullness of life of elders living in their community.
Pursing Mission through Partnership:
Mercy Care pursues mission through partnership and collaboration--with Adirondack health and human services agencies, with philanthropists, Tri-Lakes school community service programs, faith communities, and with strategic collaboration with statewide aging services organizations to strengthen the voice of Adirondack elders.
Mercy Care’s mission is implemented through three interrelated strategies:
- Direct Service to Elders. Mercy Care will work to enhance the fullness of the lives of elders by responding to their needs in a holistic manner through its Friendship Volunteer, Caregiver Advocate, and Parish Nurse Programs.
- Community Empowerment. Mercy Care will encourage each community to develop facilities, programs, policies, and practices that support a fullness of life of elders in the community. Mercy Care will serve as a catalyst for systemic change and facilitator and convener for such community development.
- Education and Advocacy. Through its educational forum program and other outreach activities, Mercy Care will seek to promote an understanding of the aspirations and challenges in the lives of elders.
