Saranac Lake — On August 14, 2024 Mercy Care for the Adirondacks hosted a full class for their Technology Assistance Workshop at BOCES in Saranac Lake. Programming was led by Mercy Care Friendship Volunteer Scott Baerman. Volunteers and Elders, as well as other friends of the community, learned basic technology skills using iPads, tablets, cell phones, and laptops.
Lake Placid— On May 30, 2024 the Mercy Care Garden Club, Volunteers and Elders, spent the afternoon preparing the Mercy Care Vegetable Garden at the Lake Placid Community Garden. In addition to the variety of vegetables planted, there was an abundance of sunshine, socialization, friendship and happiness. It was a perfect day!
Lake Placid— On April 25, 2024 the Mercy Care Garden Club planted the seeds so that we have an abundance of starter plants for the Mercy Care Garden plot at the Lake Placid Community Garden. It was an enjoyable afternoon of interactive learning, plant care tips from some of our Master Gardeners, and wonderful socialization.
Lake Placid— On March 21st, 2024 Mercy Care for the Adirondacks hosted a full audience for their Technology Assistance Workshop at High Peaks Church in Saranac Lake. With programming led by Mercy Care Friendship Volunteer Scott Baerman and Jerry Manor of SeaComm, Volunteers and Elders learned technology tips and tricks for using iPads and cell phones, as well as how to avoid Scams aimed at older adults.
On January 23, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church in Saranac Lake, Mercy Care for the Adirondacks hosted their Friendship Volunteers, Elder Friends, and St. Bernard’s 5th Grade students for a multigenerational Game Day and refreshments. Guests played newly reimagined multigenerational versions of the classic board games Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble.
On December 13, 2023, Mercy Care for the Adirondacks hosted their Friendship Volunteers and Elder Friends for a Holiday Craft Event at Raquette River Brewing in Tupper Lake. Guests made holiday ornaments with direction generously provided by Friendship Volunteer Debbie McLean. Guests were able to make multiple ornaments under Debbie’s expert guidance while socializing and enjoying treats from Spruce and Hemlock in Tupper Lake.
On November 15, 2023 and held at First Presbyterian Church in Saranac Lake, Mercy Care for the Adirondacks hosted their Friendship Volunteers, Elder Friends, and St. Joe’s Veterans and First Responder Residents for lunch and Game Day. Guests tested out new reimagined multigenerational versions of the classic board games Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, and Life.
On September 20, 2023 Mercy Care for the Adirondacks and the SL Hot House & Garden Center located at 50 Bay Blvd hosted a Build and Learn Terrarium Workshop. Mercy Care Volunteers and Elder Friends created and learned how to care for Terrariums under the guidance of knowledgeable Hot House Staff.
On September 7th, 2023 Mercy Care for the Adirondacks held a Friendship Volunteer Picnic and Awards Recognition Ceremony at Camp Guggenheim in Saranac Lake. Tyler Barton, Programs Manager at the Adirondack Center for Writing in Saranac Lake led a creative writing workshop and discussed upcoming workshop opportunities.
On August 2nd and 3rd, our Mercy Care team met with Volunteers and Elders at Will Rogers in Saranac Lake and Heaven Hill Farm in Lake Placid to celebrate friendship, introduce new members of our team and enjoy ice cream sundaes.
