Touching the Aging with Mercy
Please consider making a gift to Mercy Care for the Adirondacks. When asked, how can Mercy Care improve its services, a caregiver replied,
“More volunteer visits. Could really use respite help. I have been caring for mother, brother, and all household and yard chores for 3 ½ years. I am worn out.”
An elder receiving care from one of our volunteers said,
“She is like my own daughter. She is a blessing.”
Mercy Care for the Adirondacks relies solely on charitable contributions to support its mission and programs. Mercy Care receives no reimbursement for its services. We serve any older adult in need within our capacity.
Our services are offered free of charge to those we assist but are freely given by our kind and generous volunteers. The community itself supports Mercy Care. We depend on the generosity of giving individuals, foundations, and businesses to support our work.
In the booklet, Tender Courage, Sr. M. Joanna Regan, RSM describes the mercy of Catherine McAuley, the Foundress of the Sisters of Mercy in Ireland in 1831: “ To connect the rich to the poor; the healthy to the sick; the educated and skilled to the uninstructed; the influential to those of no consequence; the powerful to the weak; to do the work of God on earth .”
We would be deeply grateful for your gift to support the extension of mercy to elders in the Adirondacks by helping them age in place more successfully and helping our communities become more aging-friendly.
